The Pakistan Journal of Pediatric Dermatology (PJPD) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research and clinical practice in pediatric dermatology. The journal publishes original research, reviews, case reports, pictorial essays and scholarly commentaries focused on skin health in neonates, infants, children and adolescents. Its scope covers clinical pediatric dermatology, genodermatosis, dermato-oncology, procedural dermatology, diagnostic innovations, pharmacology and therapeutics, as well as psychosocial, cultural and public health aspects of childhood skin diseases.

Dr. Yasmeena Khan is widely regarded as the Mother of Pediatric Dermatology in Pakistan and a pioneer who laid the foundation of this subspecialty in the country. With more than two decades of dedicated service, she has played a defining role in establishing pediatric dermatology as a recognized field of clinical practice, teaching, and research. As Pakistan’s first formally trained pediatric dermatologist, Dr. Khan has been instrumental in improving diagnosis, management, and awareness of complex childhood skin disorders, including atopic dermatitis, genetic skin diseases, and pediatric infections. Her vision and commitment led to the initiation of the first Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship at the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), marking a milestone in dermatology education. Beyond clinical excellence, she has been deeply involved in advocacy and community outreach, promoting early detection and management of pediatric skin conditions across Pakistan. Dr. Khan obtained her MBBS from Nishtar Medical College Multan, DCH from the University of Glasgow (1969), and MCPS (Dermatology) from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi.
Prof. Dr. Lamees Mahmood Malik is Professor and Head of the Department of Dermatology at Allama Iqbal Medical College / Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. A graduate of Fatima Jinnah Medical University (1994), she earned her FCPS in Dermatology and MCPS in Health Professions Education from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. With over 25 years of clinical and academic experience, she has been actively engaged in teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students in dermatology and pediatric dermatology. She serves as Supervisor and Examiner for MCPS, FCPS, and MD Dermatology programs and is a member of the Faculty of Dermatology at CPSP. Additionally, she contributes to the Synopsis Review Committee and Curriculum Advisory Committee for Dermatology at the University of Health Sciences. As Chairperson of the Faculty Development Program and Additional Director of Medical Education at AIMC, she plays a key role in strengthening academic standards and capacity building. Prof. Malik is among the first CPSP-approved supervisors in the subspecialty of Pediatric Dermatology in Lahore. Under her leadership, AIMC’s Department of Dermatology became the first accredited unit for Level IV Pediatric Dermatology training in Pakistan. She has supervised more than 45 postgraduate residents and authored over 50 research publications.
Dr. Ghazala Butt is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Allama Iqbal Medical College / Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. She graduated from King Edward Medical University, Lahore, where she later earned both her MD and PhD in Dermatology. With over 20 years of professional experience, she has developed a distinguished career as a clinician, educator, and researcher, mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in dermatology and pediatric dermatology. She serves as a Supervisor and Examiner for MCPS, FCPS, and MD Dermatology programs, and is actively engaged in academic and professional organizations, including her role as Joint Secretary of the Pakistan Association of Dermatologists. Dr. Butt is the first PhD in Dermatology in Pakistan, with her doctoral research focusing on stem cells in patients with androgenetic alopecia — a field in which she continues to lead pioneering work. She has authored more than 60 national and international publications and has been honored with multiple research awards, including recognition at the South Asian Regional Conference in Sri Lanka and scholarships from the American Academy of Dermatology.
