JBCMS Becomes a Signatory of the Budapest Open Access Initiative

Lahore, Pakistan — October 13, 2026: The Journal of Basic & Clinical Medical Sciences (JBCMS) is pleased to announce that it has become a signatory of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), one of the founding declarations of the global open access movement. The journal signed alongside its publisher, Logixs Journals, which has also become a signatory. Together they join thousands of universities, libraries, journals, publishers, and research organizations worldwide in a shared commitment to making scholarly research freely available to everyone.

The BOAI was issued in Budapest, Hungary, on February 14, 2002, and gave the first formal definition of open access. Under this definition, research is freely available on the public internet, and anyone may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full text of articles, without financial, legal, or technical barriers. Authors keep control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited.

This commitment reflects how JBCMS already works. Every article published in the journal is freely available online to readers worldwide, with no subscription or access fees. By signing the declaration, JBCMS formalizes these principles and places itself within an international community working toward fair and equitable scholarly communication.

For authors, open access means wider readership, greater visibility, and more opportunities for their work to be cited. For readers, including clinicians, students, and researchers in low- and middle-income countries, it means access to peer-reviewed evidence without cost being a barrier. The editorial team thanks its authors, reviewers, and editorial board members for their continued support and invites researchers to submit their work to JBCMS.
