JSHS Launches Volume 4

The Journal of Social & Health Sciences (JSHS) is pleased to announce the release of Volume 4, 2025. This volume features research spanning Latin America, South Asia, and beyond.

The issue leads with Roberto Gutierrez-Rodriguez's critical analysis, "Mexico's Failure to Address the True Toll of the COVID-19 Pandemic," which argues that official figures substantially undercounted the country's infections and deaths. Alia Ibrahim's study, "Association Between Premenstrual Syndrome Severity and Academic Performance Among Adolescent Girls in Bara Kahu, Islamabad," links menstrual health to academic outcomes among Pakistani schoolgirls. Hassan Jamil presents comparative trial evidence on racecadotril's effectiveness in reducing hospital stays for young children with acute watery diarrhea, while Areej Zaman examines parental knowledge of mobile applications for improving literacy among children with hearing impairment.

The volume also includes Syed Hyder Raza Naqvi's comparative study on anxiety and sleep quality among medical students under two curricular models, and Shahid Nazir's viewpoint, "Modernizing Criminal Justice in Pakistan: The Case for Forensic Reform," which makes the case for stronger forensic capacity within Pakistan's justice system.

JSHS remains an open-access, peer-reviewed multidisciplinary journal under the leadership of Patron Dr. Muhammad Tariq and Editor-in-Chief Prof. Shakila Zaman, welcoming empirical and theoretical contributions across anthropology, economics, criminology, public health, psychology, epidemiology, sociology, and behavioral sciences. We thank our editorial board, reviewers, and contributors for making this volume possible.

We invite researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to explore Volume 4 and consider submitting to future editions. Submission guidelines are available on our website.
